Psychological First Aid

This is a Video On Demand training, separated into 3 segments. Completion of the training provides for 3.5 CEU’s for nurses and sanitarians, and will help fulfill the FC&C MRC Leadership Tier requirements. Send the certificate received at the end of the program to the MRC Coordinator.

STEP 1: Please register via OhioTRAIN at https://oh.train.org.

  • Once on OhioTRAIN, if you have not done so already, please set up an account. Once registered, enter 1012379 in the Course ID box in the lower right hand corner. <Enter>
  • Click on Psychological First Aid: Helping Others in Times of Stress; click on Registration tab and follow the prompts.

You are now registered for the course.

STEP 2:  Watch the three Vodcasts. Windows Media Player is required to view this webcast and video-on-demand (VOD) archive.  If you do not have Windows Media Player, go to http://oit.osu.edu/services/streaming/Streaming.html for the free download (click Download Players, Windows Media Player by Microsoft, & then select the appropriate version for your operating system) and/or troubleshooting instructions.  High speed internet access is strongly recommended for viewing.
Below are the steps to watch the vodcasts at your convenience:

  • Log into the CPH video library at http://vod.cph.ohio-state.edu - - using guest” and “guest”
  • Click on the Asset Library tab
  • Double-click on the MRC Psychological First Aid Training – April 26, 2008 (file folder)
  • Double-click on each of the sequential MRC Psychological First Aid Training 1, MRC Psychological First Aid Training 2, or MRC Psychological First Aid Training 3 one at a time.
  • After typing in your name, if the system asks you for a password, type in the following:

    MRC Psychological First Aid Training 1 = (password) MRC-PFA1
    MRC Psychological First Aid Training 2 = (password) MRC-PFA2
    MRC Psychological First Aid Training 3 = (password) MRC-PFA3


  • Your screen should then open up to a black VBrick window with the vodcasts beginning to play automatically.  
  • Please keep in mind, that all accompanying reference documents can be downloaded and printed from the MRC Psychological First Aid Training 3 file.

STEP 3:  Continuing Education Credits. Finally, in order for continuing education units to be awarded, you must complete the final program evaluation on OhioTRAIN located at https://oh.train.org. Instructions follow:

Psychological First Aid: Helping Others in Times of Stress

  • Click on Complete’.  Please note that if you proceed with Completion this course will be set as completed and you will get chosen credit (if any).  The course will no longer be visible in My Learning section but a record about it will be available in Transcript section located on Home tab.  If you are sure you want to mark this course as completed, click OK to start the Evaluation.
  • Click on ‘Start Evaluation’.  Complete the evaluation.  This evaluation measures your reaction to this learning experience.  Its completion is a requirement for the rewarding of continuing education clock hours.
  • Once the evaluation has been completed, you will be mailed a Certificate of Completion and be awarded the approved number of clock hours, if applicable.  When possible, the certificate will be mailed within one week of your completion.
